Acer Predator Helios 300 G3-571-77QK Gaming Review - The Cheaper Predator

Acer Predator Helios 300 G3-571-77QK includes Intel i7 7700 HQ processor, 15.6 inch IPS LED display, nvidia geforce gtx 1060 with 6 gigabytes of gddr5 and memory 16 gigabytes of ddr4 system memory and 256 gigabyte SSD. It's not include no optical Drive. you also get 802 11 AC, bluetooth and HD 720p camera with two microphones. Battery is 4cell lithium 3220 mAh Li-ion.
This laptop is a kind of a fingerprint magnet and that's the same for almost every laptop. you have a brushed aluminum was plastic on this one. It's back isn't aluminum one. the vents on the back look quite like the VX 15 but you have the Reds on the venting are quite muted compared to the brighter Reds on the VX 15.

the build quality is surprisingly good. It's got a metal top panel plastic everywhere else, and you'd think it would have a lot of Flex on the Chassis. But it doesn't it's really solid and even the screen and hinges are built well. I think they made some great material choices . It's not particularly thin and it's also a little bit heavy.

On the left
You have aKensington lock, Ethernet jack, one USB type-c port up to 5 gigabits per second so it's not Thunderbolt, HDMI port, USB 3.0 port and an SD card slot.
On the right
You have power connector, two USB 2.0 ports and one audio jack.

On the bottom
on the right, there are brackets of the memory slot which currently has 2 x 8 gigabyte DIMMs but can be upgraded to 32 for whatever reason if you want to swap out the m2 a main SSD you'll need to remove the rest of the screws and take off the bottom lip. there's a 48 watt hour battery.

The Helios has significantly better cooling.there's dual fans but they're not using a sirs new arrow blade 3d fence AeroBlade 3d fans will be used on a different configuration with over clockable GPUs coming out later.

The keyboard
Acer did a good job in keyboard. the keys have rubber feel to it and are extremely quiet when you press them down. the WASD Keys are highlighted red and there's one level of red backlighting. the only complaint I have is to do with the arrow keys and numpad the buttons are not the same size as the rest of the buttons on the main keyboard. But I can still type pretty fast. it's a very comfortable keyboard to use.

The track pad
is not glass. it's not the smoothest but it's not bad good. It's got great tracking and clicking is a little stiff you got to press down harder than normal to register a click but I'd use an external mouse when possible.

Acer Predator Helios 300 you get a strong performing, gaming laptop at mid-range prices. It's available in 15.6 inch or 17.3 inch full HD displays. Inside is an over clockable NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 or 1050 TI combined with a 7 Gen Intel Core i7 or i5 processor.

The display
is 15.6 inches 60 Hertz IPS has a resolution of 1920 by 1080 but doesn't support g-sync usually the component and manufacturers make low quality to sell you something at this price point especially.

is a 720p HD camera. it's fine for streaming games or video conferencing now.

is coming out of two speakers on the bottom of the laptop. they're loud enough to fill up a small room with very nice highs.

The Performance
is what you expect in a gaming laptop, super fast for day-to-day stuff like browsing the web, productivity tasks and consuming media but for gaming.

All this power is supported with up to 16 gigs of ram, speedy SSD and a one Terabyte hard drive for storage. An access compartment door on the bottom makes it easy to upgrade memory and storage. This gaming laptop has a matte black body with red accents. To ensure that it stays cool, Acer has two of the new arrow blade fans with ultra thin blades.

It's rocking a gtx 1060 so perfect for playing on Full HD with settings set to high.

I was easily averaging 85 to 90 frames per second and doom with settings set to ultra using OpenGL. I was averaging a comfortable 70 frames per second. I'm pretty sure that would be higher if I was using the Vulcan API.

Last game I tried was battlefield 1 multiplayer mode which I'm terrible at by the way I was averaging framerate of 70 frames per second.

Heat management
on this laptop is exceptional 38 degrees with the max surface temperature under full load. when running my heat test, this is super impressive especially when you compare to the Acer V Nitro that would overheat by simply loading a game I just want to commend Acer for keeping this laptop extremely cool and more importantly fairly quiet.

Battery life
is not the greatest and it's no surprise consider. there's only a 48 watt hour battery inside I average around 4 hours of use when not gaming and only 45 minutes to 1 hour when I was gaming.

Some things that I don't like

-The display is very similar to the displays on the laptops that are under $1000. It's 1080p not a touchscreen the color gamut is a super bad. I mean looking at the numbers.

-It doesn't look great, but visually it's not too bad; however, the thing that really ruins it for me is the brightness. It's really dim if you're using it's in Bright environment. And I found it difficult to play games in the daytime in the evening or if I close all the blinds. It's fine, but yeah, it's not a very bright screen now

And I feel like that's what they've done. So you're still getting an amazingly powerful device for the money.

The Acer predator Helios 300 manages to be an amazing deal. You're getting decent sound, a powerful gtx 1060, enough ports and it's quiet and has really good heat.

GTX 1060 is a dramatic increase in gaming performance for this price. Acer predator Helios 300 is a fantastic deal.
